Join us for a Wagyu Beef ‘alternative’ Sunday Lunch Supper Club on Sunday 2 August 2015 at 2pm.
We recently bought a tenth of a Wagyu beef cow in an online charity auction! Jo was beyond excited and I got half hourly updates about her bidding status throughout the day. What better way to celebrate and share the beefy love than have a Wagyu Beef Supper Club.
This is prime Northern Irish Grass fed Wagyu Beef reared on our friend Emily’s family farm in Cavankirk, Co. Tyrone. Wagyu? I hear some of you cry. These Kings of beef breeds originate from Japan. Limited in supply, Wagyu is famed for the fat marbled through the meat, which makes it super succulent and flavoursome.
We wanted to showcase the beef with lots of classic beefy accompaniments, so we’ve gone for more of a tasting menu than the usual classic three courses.
As this is a Sunday afternoon Supper Club, rather than our usual evening events, it’s a bit more casual and well-behaved children are welcome.
Here are the details:
The menu: Three courses of Wagyu Beef dishes (and a dessert that sadly doesn’t include beef). Beetroot, pomegranate, watercress, horseradish, onion rings, blue cheese, Sichuan pepper and English mustard.
Menu for 2 August 2015
Tiny Yorkshire Puddings with Roast Beef, Horseradish & Beetroot
Seared Beef, Onion rings & Blue Cheese Salad
Persian Seared Beef with Pomegranate & Balsamic Vinegar
Open Roast Beef Sandwiches with English Mustard & Watercress
Paired with Worthington’s White Shield IPA (5.6% ABV)
Beef & Stout Pie
Sichuan Pepper Beef with Green Pepper & Peanuts
Wagyu Ragu Ravioli
Paired with Leytonstone Brewhouse False Bottom Porter (4% ABV)
Homemade Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream
Paired with a delicious Milk stout – we’re still researching…
English Breakfast Tea and shortbread
The beer: Bring along a bottle or two of beer, or anything else you fancy drinking. This is an eclectic menu so pretty much anything goes in terms of beer matching. However, there are some strong flavours in the dishes so anything with lots of malt and a relatively high ABV would be excellent, perhaps an ESB (Extra Special Bitter). As usual, we will be providing a taste of a beer with each course.
The time: 2pm to 6pm, Sunday 2 August 2015
The place: Our home in Leytonstone, E11 4PR. Details will follow once you’ve booked.
The cost: Suggested donation of £32 per person, payable in advance please. For three courses.
Booking is essential. Please email email@example.com with your name, number of places and any dietary requirements.
