Mexican supper club – Sunday 23 August

****** This supper club is now fully-booked ******

****** Please get in touch if you want to be added to the waiting list ******

Join us for a Frida Kahlo inspired Sunday Lunch Supper Club on Sunday 23 August 2015 at 2pm.

Erin is obsessed by the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.  So much so, that when we were getting our back garden done last year we attempted to recreate the garden of her “Blue House” in Mexico city. The London weather and the size of our garden imposed some limitations, but we managed to introduce some of the colour, quirkiness and overgrown tropical nature of Frida’s garden into our Leytonstone backyard. We also both love Mexican food, and a proper Mexican foodie trip is on the bucket list, but in the meantime we’re inspired by some brilliant recipes from Diana Kennedy and Thomasina Miers.

As this is a Sunday afternoon Supper Club, rather than our usual evening events, it’s a bit more casual and a bit cheaper. The suggested donation will be £26 per person rather than the usual £32.

Here are the details:
The menu: Three courses of fresh & colourful Mexican-inspired dishes. Think avocado, coriander, lime, sweetcorn, chillies, pork and pink pickled onions.

Menu for 23 August 2015

Palomas & cornbread canapés

Prawn, Green Chilli and Avocado Tostadas

Paired with Indian Helles Lager, Camden Town Brewery (6.2% ABV)

Slow-cooked Pork Pibil with Pink Pickled Onions

Cornbread with Jalapeno Butter

Mexican Slaw & Steamed Rice

Paired with Isabel Pale Ale, Leytonstone Brewhouse (4.2% ABV)

Cinnamon Churros with Chilli Chocolate Dipping Sauce

Pineapple Carpaccio with Minted Sugar

Paired with Kent Kriek, Leytonstone Brewhouse (5.1% ABV)

The beer: Bring along a bottle or two of beer, or anything else you fancy drinking. Pale ales, lagers, porters and dunkels will all go down well. We’re matching the dessert with a newly brewed sour cherry beer. If you want something to compare it to, I heartily recommend a bringing along a boon kriek, timmermans kriek or lindemans kriek. As usual, we will be providing a taste of a beer with each course.
The time: 2pm to 6pm, Sunday 23 August 2015
The place: Our home in Leytonstone, E11 4PR. Details will follow once you’ve booked.
The cost: Suggestion donation of £26 per person, payable in advance please. For three courses.

Booking is essential. Please email leytonstonebrewhouse@gmail.com with your name, number of places and any dietary requirements.
