Join us for a Vietnamese Supper Club on Sunday 4 October 2015 at 2pm. Jo will be trying something a little different with the beer. She is planning create a keg of Vietnam’s famous “Bia Hoi” or Fresh Beer to go with the first few courses. Found on street corners all over Vietnam and often served from crazy petrol pump style kegs or plastic jugs, it’s probably the cheapest beer in the world – and not necessarily the worst! When done well, it’s light and fresh and perfect for matching with Vietnamese food.
Here are the details:
The menu: A Vietnamese inspired feast. Think lime and chilli, fish sauce, coriander and mint, pork and prawn, bean sprouts and vermicelli noodles.
Menu for 4 October
Banh Mi Bites
DIY Fresh Summer Rolls
Banh Xeo – Crepes with Pork and Shrimp
Spring Roll and Pork Vermicelli Noodle Salad
All Paired with Jo’s Bia Hoi (ABV TBC!)
Saigon Panna Cotta
Paired with Kent Kriek, Sour Cherry Beer, Leytonstone Brewhouse (5.1% ABV)
Jasmine Tea and Petit Fours
The beer: Bring along a bottle or two of beer, or anything else you fancy drinking. If you can find some Saigon or other Vietnamese lager that would be great. Otherwise, wheat beers would work well, or dunkels would be excellent – a Budwar Dark for example.
The time: 2pm to 6pm, Sunday 4 October 2015
The place: Our home in Leytonstone, E11 4PR. Details will follow once you’ve booked.
The cost: Suggestion donation of £26 per person, payable in advance please. For three courses plus a few extras.
